Our high school VOYAGERS contingent returned from New Orleans and the National Youth Gathering in July looking through life from a new lens of faith. Twelve youth and five adult chaperons joined the cast of 25,000 youth and adults from across the nation to worship and praise God as well as learn more about their faith and the challenges youth face beyond our community. They shared their experiences with the congregation during services on Sunday August 28th and celebrated with a breakfast between services.
With the start of the school year come new beginnings with the youth program as a new schedule of events begins. The kick-off event is the BBQ and Goofy Games on Sunday September 11th from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Pavilion. Both LYTES and VOYAGERS from 6th to 12th grade and their friends are welcome to attend.
We are truly grateful for the work leading our youth in events and loft lessons by Haley Delcourt this past school year. She has been a true blessing, faithfully serving the youth in our congregation. Haley is moving on to new employment further North and will no longer be able to continue serving. We praise God and thank Haley for her faithful service and wish her well in her future endeavors.
Golf anyone? The 5th Annual Voyagers Fall Golf Classic Fundraiser is on Sunday, September 25th at 1pm, once again nestled in the quaint surroundings of Oak Hills Country Club in Palos Heights. Tickets are $55 per person and include golf, cart and dinner. Can’t golf with us? Personal and business sponsorships are available from $50 to $150.
We are looking forward to an exciting new 2016-17 school year for both LYTES and VOYAGERS!
