Through the vision of Don Pleger, assisted by Ernst Zimmermann, the OWLS – Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors – was formed in 1991. Membership in the group was for those 50 years of age and older. The purpose of the group was to provide Christian fellowship, social activities and service to the church.
Over the years, the OWLS have become a vital part of Christ Lutheran Church. Their generosity to the church has included new appliances and office equipment, new furniture and blinds, donations to the Home Welfare program, and much more. They decorate the church for
Christmas and provide luncheons during Advent and Lent. In addition, their much-anticipated rummage sales bring people from miles around!
As they celebrate their 30th Anniversary, we are so thankful and grateful for the OWLS. With approximately 50 members, the OWLS continue to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 and also enjoy several outings throughout the year. If you are age 50 or older,
they would love to have you join them. If you would like more information about the OWLS, contact their current president, Ellen Weber. The other officers are: Vice President – Diane Linkowski, Treasurer – Dawn Sulek, and Secretary – Mary Garrett.
