Legacy Gifts      PC1101

By Pete Schrank

As I read the notes in the bulletin over these last few weeks I see many gifts of thanks. Some of us thank God for blessing though out the year. Some thank God for a special event like a birthday or anniversary. That reminds me- I need to remember my two new granddaughters Teagan and Sloane for 2016. Some gifts are made to support ongoing ministries we hold dear; that have supported us, our loved ones, or those in the most need of the Christian love and support provided by CELC.  But all these gifts continue to support the legacy for Christ Lutheran Church Orland Park. As we are blessed let us be a blessing to others.
What is a legacy gift or an endowment gift here at the church? A legacy can be defined as something we will or pass on at the end of our life’s journey. These are gifts, either small or large, are used to provide for the continuing support and maintenance of the Christ Lutheran. As many of you know we have had some very large legacy donations here at the church. In the member’s will they either tell the Church directly how they want the funds used or leave this up to the member of the Endowment Committee and Church Council.
The Christ Lutheran Endowment fund was created five years ago to give those that want to support the ministry here with a perpetual gift, a method to do so. The funds that are given to the endowment are a foundational financial tool, which can generate funds though investment tool to supply a continuous flow of capital to support where ever support is needed. If you need additional information, please see the brochure on the table in the narthex.
Finally, may God bless you in 2017 with all those gifts of the spirt found in Galatians 5:22;  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law
