Sanctuaryby Walter Burden

The balcony that oversees the sanctuary at Christ Lutheran provides a bird’s eye view of what happens during a church service. If you have never experienced it, it is well worth the climb upstairs. We don’t always think about the efforts of the many people involved in our church services. From the Banner Committee, to the Altar Guild, Elders, Ushers, Lectors, Choir members, Musicians, Organist, Music Director, Liturgy Team and of course our Pastors, all are contributing members of the worship service we experience weekly. But who is missing from the list?

The Sounds of the Sanctuary are filled with the voices and instruments of all of those mentioned above. But who ensures that God’s Word and song will be heard and felt through the vibrations of sound, amplified to fill God’s children with His love? Absent  on the list above are our trusty Sound Techs. A Sound Tech at CLC since 1999, Mike Fisher tells that “in the music loft we have a professional sound board and record church services on cd’s, and recent sermons are available on www.ChristLutheranOrland.com. We also make sure to provide sound to the Fireside Room and other areas of the building. Brian Knopp and I are the regularly scheduled techs and are always on the lookout for more volunteers who share our passion for serving God in this way.” Mike also expressed how much working in the balcony has positively impacted his faith life. “It keeps me connected to church serving God.”

So if you are ever interested to serve in this way or feel the need, please speak up and give feedback to Pastor Ray, Music Director Sandy Knopp or to our sound techs Brian and Mike, and you could be a part of this important team. After all, Sounds of the Sanctuary are depending on it.
