Christ Lutheran’s unit of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is part of a nationwide organization that exists to develop and maintain mission consciousness among the women of the synod. The LWML is divided into districts and zones which select mission projects to support at their biennial conventions. Funds to support these mission projects are gained by the pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters (mites) that are placed in Mite Boxes and collected several times a year here at church.
Our local unit operates in conjunction with the Ladies Aid Society, and meetings are held at the same time as the Ladies Aid Society meetings. Our zone holds an annual Spring Rally and a Fall Workshop in member churches to encourage and promote mission work and friendships among Lutheran women. There is always a need for new members interested in promoting missions and mission work.
The Ladies Aid Society holds bake sales periodically and helps to support a child through a Christian organization.
Meetings are held at 1:00 pm on the first Wednesdays of April, August, October and December. All the ladies of the congregation are invited to join our group.
LWML MITES Give your pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters (mites) in the mite boxes for mission work through the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. These boxes will be collected during Lent and Holy Week in the large purple/white box in the narthex. A good Christian tradition is to take the money saved through Lenten fasting and give it to mission work.
LWR QUILTERS Our Christ Lutheran Quilters have decided they will not meet for the rest of
this year. Looking to start afresh in 2021.
For more information on the Ladies Aid /
LWML, contact Judy Kosman at 708-423-7429.
NO QUILTING EXPERIENCE NEEDED! The Quilters are looking for new members to help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief (LWR). The only requirements are that you love talking, drinking coffee, and are able to tie knots with yarn. No experience necessary – we will teach you what you need to do! Please consider joining this worthwhile ministry every
Tuesday morning any time between 9:00 and noon in Fellowship Hall. We look forward to seeing you there! For more information, contact Lynn Burke at 708-577-4857.
LWML MITES Thank you for your continued support of the vital mission work of the LWML by gathering your pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters! Our goal is $1,000 again this year. Please return your mite boxes to the designated purple box in the narthex and help us reach our goal! We appreciate your generosity!
