Duties of the Banner Committee include the care and maintenance of banners used in the sanctuary. A major responsibility of the committee is the creation of new processional and worship banners that emphasize special seasons, festivals, and occasions of the church year.

Through the use of scripture, sacred symbols of faith and color, the committee’s goal is to proclaim His glory, capture the hope and joy of each season and festival, and inspire all in their faith that they may be encouraged to become involved in the ministry of the church. Examples of recent banners designed and created by the committee are Lenten, Trinity, Reformation, and the LWML banners.

In addition to the creation worship banners for the sanctuary, the committee assists the 8th grade confirmation students as they choose and sketch symbols that are representative of their personal beliefs and faith. These designs are then translated by the committee into a personal “Confirmation Banner” for each confirmand.

A third outreach of the committee is creation of “All Saints Banners”. Displayed on All Saints Sunday, these banners memorialize those who died and were served by Christ Lutheran clergy during the previous year.

Business meetings and work sessions are held on an as-needed basis.
