SUNDAY SCHOOL NOTES
In lieu of summer Sunday School, our focus will be on family worship. The Sunday School children have been asked to make a commitment to bring their families to church this summer. Family worship benefits the child, the family and the congregation. A children's message is incorporated in the 10 a.m. worship service. Please note your child's church attendance by writing his/her name and grade on the Welcome/Communion sheet inserted in the liturgy and deposit it in the offering plate.
Rally Day – Christian Education Fair (pre-k through adult) is Sunday, September 7, at the 9:30 a.m. service with Christian Education Fair following in the gym of Ledogar Hall.
Teachers/Aides openings – Sunday School is looking for 2 – 4 th grade teachers, an aide for 5 th /6 th grade, an aide for 2 nd grade and some substitute teachers. If you can help in these areas, call Jen Reichardt at 708-899-1068.
FAITH AND CONGREGATION CLASS
FALL 2008 will meet on Sunday evenings, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. from September 28 through October 26. Led by Pastor Ray Rohlfs, the class will discuss the basic teachings of our Christian and Lutheran Faith and the congregational life of Christ Lutheran. The class is open to all and free of charge. ADULT SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY
CHRIST LUTHERAN BOOK CLUB
Restarting on September 23, at 7:30 p.m. the Christ Lutheran Book club gathers monthly to discuss various books, both Christian and secular, from a theological perspective. This summer we are reading, Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis, a book that is readily available in the Fireside Room Library, most public libraries and book stores. All are welcome!
DIEFENTHALER FOUNDATION GRANTS
For the younger Christians (preschool through 8th grade) Sunday School is available the Sunday following Labor Day through Memorial Day.
In addition to Sunday School, Confirmation Instruction is offered to 5-8th graders.
Under the guidance of trained facilitators, youth and adult Bible studies are available throughout the week. Adults and children are invited to join in the excitement during the week of Vacation Bible School.
